Forever Malcolm Young Lyrics

Never seemed to be in front
Or part of the exciting times
Destined for a life of second-best
The blackmail not the bribe

[Chorus]
Together now whatever work has gone unsung
He'll be forever Malcolm Young

Always gnocchi, not linguine
Never Hitler, you're Mussolini
Often the sideshow but not the circus

Always Malcolm, never Angus
End up Carleton, you wanted to be Negus
Single pluggers, never sneakers
Always headphones, never the speakers

Shouldn't have a complex cause he wrote "Highway To fucking Hell"

[Chorus]
Together now whatever work has gone unsung
He'll be forever Malcolm Young

Don't be too cocky cause he wrote "Stiff Upper Lip" as well
[Chorus]
Together now whatever work has gone unsung
He'll be forever Malcolm Young

About

Genius Annotation

This song was released the same year as Australian band Youth Group’s 2006 cover of Alphaville’s “Forever Young”. Youth Group’s song had been highly popular, reaching number 1 on the Australian ARIA singles chart, and being featured on the television show The O.C.

Frenzal Rhomb’s song title references the Youth Group song, as well as AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young.

Malcolm Young co-wrote AC/DC’s music and inspired deep respect from other guitarists, but was far less known than his songwriting partner, brother Angus Young. The school uniform-clad, spotlight-loving lead guitarist Angus captured much more attention than Malcolm’s rhythm guitar and backing vocals.

Frenzal Rhomb’s song expands upon this concept of being overlooked and unsung. The lyrics list numerous second-best people and objects, along with what they are overshadowed by.
