Don’t Cry (Demo) Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Talk to me softly
There is something in your eyes
Don't hang your head in sorrow
And please don't cry
I know how you feel inside I've
I've been there before
Somethin is changin' inside you
And don't you know

[Chorus]
Don't you cry tonight
I still love you baby
Don't you cry tonight
Don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby
And don't you cry tonight

[Verse 2]
Give me a whisper
And give me a sign
Give me a kiss before you
Tell me goodbye
Don't you take it so hard now
And please don't take it so bad
I'll still be thinkin' of you
And the times we had...baby
[Chorus]
And don't you cry tonight
Don't you cry tonight
Don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby
And don't you cry tonight

[Guitar Solo]

[Spoken]
And don't you cry
Cause I'll be coming back home to you
It's not too long to wait
I'll be back for you

[Verse 3]
And please remember that I never lied
And please remember
How I felt inside now honey
You gotta make it your own way
But you'll be alright now sugar
You'll feel better tomorrow
Come the morning light now baby

[Chorus]
And don't you cry tonight
And don't you cry tonight
And don't you cry tonight
There's a heaven above you baby
And don't you cry
Don't you ever cry
Don't you cry tonight
Baby maybe someday
Don't you cry
Don't you ever cry
Don't you cry
Tonight

Genius Annotation

The melodic ballad, “Don’t Cry,” was one of the first compositions written by Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin while in Los Angeles, being present in the band’s demo tape to Geffen in 1986. This is one of the three recorded versions of this song, recorded in 1986 featuring original drummer Steven Adler. It does not differ greatly from the Use Your Illusion 1 version except for a brief spoken part during the solo and Axl’s use of a lower pitched voice.
