“Hair of the Dog” is the title track of Nazareth’s 1975 album Hair of the Dog. It is sometimes called “Son of a Bitch” because of the repeated lyric in the chorus. The song is about a charming and manipulative woman who can get men to acquiesce to her every need.
Guns N Roses covered this song for their 1993 punk rock covers album The Spaghetti Incident after having performed this song previously live at a Guns N Roses/Metallica/Sebastian Bach show. Gilby Clarke mentions in an interview about originally suggesting that the band should cover this song:
I did make the comment about the Nazareth tune (“Hair Of The Dog”), because I always thought Axl sounded like the singer of Nazareth. Not even knowing that the band actually played that song way before I got in the band. It was a unanimous choice to do the Nazareth tune"
