Dave Le'aupepe and his Gang of Youths bandmates released, ‘asleep in the back’, as the second track on their new EP, ‘total serene’. Their first release since their hit album, ‘Go Farther in Lightness’, in 2017. It is a cover of the ‘Elbow’ track, released in 2002, of the same name.

Le'aupepe commented on the song in a Triple J article, stating, “We love Elbow and we thought it was thematically relevant.”
