Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll) Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Let it roll across the floor
Through the hall and out the door
To the fountain of perpetual mirth
Let it roll for all it's worth

[Verse 2]
Find me where ye echo lays
Lose ye bodies in the maze
See the Lord and all the mouths he feeds
Let it roll among the weeds

[Chorus]
Let it roll

(Sir Frankie Crisp
Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp
Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp
Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp)

[Verse 3]
Let it roll down through the caves
Ye long walks of Coole and Shades
Through ye woode, here may ye rest awhile
Handkerchiefs to match your tie
[Chorus]
Let it roll

Let it roll, let it roll
Let it roll, let it roll

[Verse 4]
Fools illusions everywhere
Joan and Molly sweeps the stairs
Eyes are shining full of inner light
Let it roll into the night

[Outro]
(Sir Frankie Crisp
Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp
Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp) Let it roll
(Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp) Let it roll, let it roll
(Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp) Let it roll, let it roll
(Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp) Let it roll, let it roll
(Oh, Sir Frankie Crisp)

About

Genius Annotation

“Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)” is a song by George Harrison and was released on his acclaimed triple album, All Things Must Pass. The track is a tribute to Frankie Crisp, the original owner of Friar Park, Harrison’s home he purchased in 1970.

When Harrison purchased the house, he carried out extensive renovations and found many items dating back to Crisp’s time as an owner. Harrison, like Crisp, was also a keen gardener, and spent a lot of his time restoring the gardens.

The cover art for All Things Must Pass was taken in the grounds of Friar Park and depicts Harrison, dressed in garden attire, surrounded by garden gnomes taken from Crisp’s collection of Bavarian gnomes that had recently been purchased by Harrison after they had been stolen sometime in the 1870’s.
