This is a rehearsal take from the Mama album, which was recorded in 1983 during the Genesis sessions. It is evident that the song was in an early form at this point, the general idea of the song was there however the lyrics were highly undeveloped.

The drum machine rhythm was programmed on the Linn LM-1 by Mike Rutherford. It was then fed through a reverb unit and a Fender amplifier with a large level of distortion.

Tony Banks used a Synclavier, ARP Quadra, E-mu Emulator, and Sequential Circuits Prophet-10 during the recording.

The Koto instrument which is heard in the recording demo was a sample of the instrument which was in the studio one day.
