Hello and welcome! This is a page created by louiedro dedicated to exploring secrets, easter eggs and other interesting details about Tool songs.
If you’re familiar with Tool, you’re probably aware that there are lots of weird things hidden in their songs, from Maynard’s whispered vocals that blend into the background, to bizarre sounds and instrumentation. My goal in creating this page is to put all of these secrets into one centralized location.
I am aware of the existence of resources such as ToolShed and toolnavy.com. However ToolShed talks a lot about things that are not directly related to the band’s music and lyrics (and also, the page is not secure), and has not been updated since 2001. Toolnavy has tons of great info but has not been updated since 2009, although you can still find more recent posts in the forum’s various threads. If you go digging through these resources though, you will probably find some great stuff!
All information provided will include a source – if you do not see a source cited, this means I discovered the information during my own listening, even though it may be documented elsewhere. Otherwise, the source will be the videos themselves included in the annotations.
If you would like to add or edit information (including errors/typos/etc.), and you’re comfortable with HTML, please feel free to edit the lyrics/annotations yourself. Otherwise you can send a message to louiedro or leave a comment on the bottom of this page.
