“Me Gusta” is the first promotional single from the fifth studio album of Brazilian singer Anitta called “Versions of Me” (2022). The single features the participation of North American Cardi B and Puerto Rican Myke Towers, both rappers.
The song features Anitta and Cardi B singing in Spanish and English and Myke Towers in Spanish. The single was released on September 18, 2020 and the album on February 12, 2022.
Thus, the track revolves around Pagode Baiano, an original musical genre from the Brazilian state of Bahia, with the capital city of Salvador, which is where the Brazilian recorded the video for “Me Gusta. The recording of the clip was made in 2019 with Anitta and Myke Towers in Salvador and Cardi B in her studio in New York.
The conceptual focus of the video clip is a fashion show with women of all types, including thin, fat, white, black and trans. Anitta says that this represents all women and that they are all beautiful, as she says in Myke’s verse, and that what she really likes to see is women conquering and fighting for what they want and what is theirs.
So that the visibility of “Me Gusta” was very high, it eventually ended up entering several charts such as the US Billboard, reaching position 38 in the eight weeks it remained on the chart.
