Damso - Γ. Mosaïque solitaire (English Translation) Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Don't ask me what I do in life
It's so dark, you would be panicked
Somewhere, far from any companionship
Batterie Faible made me lose many friends
Don't shake my hand, hit me with a #Vie
I'm waiting for death like in Gethsemane
Fuck her and that's it, if not she'll act stupid
She will disrespect your family
Only one mistake and you won't have any followers anymore
So I do what I like not what they tell me to
I am always up when the night falls
From the skies, Hell looks exactly like Paradise
"Die in your shit, you won't have a penny"
That's more or less what my daddy told me
Fortunately big asses knew how to console me
With their ssies-pu, I poisoned myself
I've tippled, I drank yeah, I drank yeah
I've lost the sense of reason 'cause of my faults
That's what it does to be always working at night
I smoke too much, I don't exercise no more
"Not very good", told me coach Elie
Drugs in the hold, and I just landed
I'm rolling a spliff, oh yeah

[Chorus]
They don't wish me no good, no
They don't wish me no good, no
They're building snowmen
I am making my way through
They don't wish me no good, no
They don't wish me no good, no
I came out of shitty positions
La vie en rose like a bitch's pussy
Committed with vulgarity
I turned my back on tenuousness
I put my chances in the magazine
I kept on shooting, never stopping
Rosemark if you want quality
Big bundles : my mentality
No sand in the hourglass anymore
No space in paradise anymore
Damsolitary
[Bridge]
Deums, brutal, brutal, brutal
That I used to say
Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
That I used to say

[Chorus]
They don't wish me no good, no
They don't wish me no good, no
They're building snowmen
I am making my way through
They don't wish me no good, no
They don't wish me no good, no
I came out of shitty positions
La vie en rose like a bitch's pussy
Committed with vulgarity
I turned my back on tenuousness
I put my chances in the magazine
I kept on shooting, never stopping
Rosemark if you want quality
Big bundles : my mentality
No sand in the hourglass anymore
No space in paradise anymore

[Verse 2]
Problems, son there will always be
The police tracks our telephones
Can't seem to apprehend my future
'Cause in my visions I'm immortal
More than seven thousand days ago that I was born
Including at least a thousand spent smoking
Smoking kills, living does too so at least let's go and ruin ourselves
I have nothing to lose in fact
As you don't take anything with you
Don't tell me "love ya" when you see me
Don't come in my bed but under my table
Why am I like that ? Don't ask me
I wouldn't be able to answer
Don't make no mistake
I take everything I can take
Like my land, I'm only rich under the debris
I only cry on the inside so that my troubles drown
Why ask them for time ?
I do know that mine has not come yet
Graduated, rich and after ? I miss the schoolyard times
But no time for regrets told me my heart
Nostalgic 'cause the present doesn't fill my expectations
My sweat comes from my effort, I use stress as a stage set
I really don't give a single fuck
Perkiness covers up my pores, dream but don't sleep
Burst but don't die, me I bark I bite
The java, I go out with the soul covered with a burqa
[Verse 3]
Rapping, this is what I do best
Beat the fuck out of racist people aswell
Always with a knife in the bag so that
The enemy's targeted, so that he's well-tamed
Inside each of us lives God, he tells me
His home is inside our hearts, he tells me
So, "forgive me Lord", I tell him
If my lungs smell too much like weed
I spend my time, dreaming and taking some fresh air, god dammit
Large bay windows, offices, phones, secretaries
Equals urban success on Earth
I'll be a rapper later mommy don't worry
I'll be making lots of cash with records and concerts
I think you'll like it, I'll go all around the world
I'll push aside the bars of life so that we free ourselves
There I proceed, I think about cardiovascular diseases
Sad to be famous but with no father or mother
My enemies get hit very hard
I don't digest anything, my bile never leaves its gallbladder
In front of the gospel, I quote a few prayers
Shortly before I had murdering thoughts
Mister abbot, my hatred did not come up yesterday
I am therefore I will be, logical sequence of the auxiliairies

About

Genius Annotation

“Mosaïque Solitaire” (meaning Lonesome Mosaic) mostly talks about Damso’s relationship to the others and about his constant feeling of loneliness.

The particularity of this song is that it is based on two very different beats.

Structure

Also, the song has a very particular structure, divisible in 3 moments. Each of the three has a different rythm and a different flow.

2 different beats that go like this :
Beat 1 – Beat 2 – Beat 1 slowed down

  • Part 1, the isolation :
In the first part of the song, Damso describes the situation like a narrator, an exterior point-of-view. But it’s also an explaination, as Damso describes his way of life as someone solitary, who doesn’t want anyone to stick with him or to get close to him, as he chooses isolation over relationships, leading him to note his weakness in this situation.

  • Part 2, good on his own :
In this second part, Damso talks like he did in “Nwaar Is The New Black” :

J'parle tout seul parce que personne sait répondre

I talk alone because no one knows what to answer

Damso is doing good on his own, he understands himself, he doesn’t find any interest anywhere else than inside his mind, which justifies the use of a very calm beat. The belgian finds himself soothed when he’s alone, solitude being his shelter, somewhere he feels comforting.

  • Part 3, Damso and the others :
We’re going back to a situation close to the one in the first part. Damso describes his life of fulfilled solitary man, going through under the disregard of the other (here using a religious man), describing the people as a whole ; his life orbits around him, and as he quotes his mother, he tells us he wants her to make profit off his success, and that she is the only that has this right.

Je suis donc j'aurai suite logique des auxiliaires

I am therefore I will be, logical sequence of the auxiliairies

On the last sentence, Damso only opposes himself to the others to show that he is better than them (esp. for about the money), he really insists on this point to show us once again that only him matters.

In this text, Damso talks about his solitude and his loneliness, going through 3 distinct steps.

“Mosaïque”

The title “Mosaïque” (“mosaic”) can thus be associated to his flows mosaic, and the personnality shifts he is able to make.

Furthermore, there is a contrast between the ideas of mosaic and solitary. Indeed, a mosaic is a set of many pieces put together to form a whole, where someone solitary is someone that aims to be alone. As said multiple times on his tracks and in interviews, this track is link to his album Batterie Faible that made him lose most of his friends and left him all alone.
