LISA - LALISA (English Translation) Lyrics

[Intro]
You know just from looking at my back
When it gets dark, the light shines pink
When the bright light wakes me up
I shake up the world (Hey!)
La, la-la-la, la, la-la-la
La, la-la-la
What's my name? What's my name? (Hey!)
La, la-la-la, la, la-la-la
La, la-la-la
What's my name? What's my name?

[Verse 1]
I empty my head completely
And burn the loud emotions
Burn, burn, burn
I'm the champagne that'll quench your thirst at that moment
Sip, sip, drink me up
Yes, lift up my body higher

[Pre-Chorus]
Want you to ring the alarm
Tell it to the world, kiss my name

[Chorus]
Say, "Lalisa, love me, Lalisa, love me" (Hey!)
Call me, "Lalisa, love me, Lalisa, love me" (Hey!)
Oh-ooh, you know the attitude
What more do you want?
The loudest in the room (Hoo! Hoo!)
Say, "Lalisa, love me, Lalisa, love me" (Hey!)
Call me, "Lalisa, love me, Lalisa, love me" (Hey!)
Oh-ooh, you know the attitude
What more do you want?
The loudest in the room (Hoo!)
[Verse 2]
Baby, get the megaphone, put it on speaker
I said I can't hear you, so you need to speak up
Put that shit on stereo, everyone else on very low
Protect it like a barrier, promise there's nothing scarier
Than me if anybody coming gunnin' for my man
Gonna catch a case, gun up in my hand
Bam, bam, bam! Hit after hit though
Rocks in my wrist, so I call 'em the Flintstones

[Pre-Chorus]
Ring the alarm

[Bridge]
I'm incomparable, you gon' still love me nonetheless
You gon' still love me
You need some L-A-L-I-S-A
Remember my name that's standing right in front of you
Love you some L-A-L-I-S-A
(Hoo!)

[Verse 3]
You cannot see me, even though I show you all my ways (No)
From Thailand to Korea, and now here, went for the throat (The throat)
Being the greatest of all time ain't fantasy (Woo!)
Jet black and pink crown belongs to we (BLACKPINK!)
Lalisa, Lalisa, Lalisa, I am standing above the sky
Lalisa, Lalisa, Lalisa, they want me
Lalisa, Lalisa, Lalisa, catch me if you can
Lalisa, Lalisa, Lalisa, Lalisa, Lalisa

About

Genius Annotation

“LALISA” marks LISA’s first solo release, and works as the leading track off her debut single album, LALISA, named after her real name—Lalisa Manoban.

This upbeat electronic-pop track compliments LISA’s vocals with a middle-eastern aesthetic and dreamy cool visuals throughout the song and music video. Lyrically, the song showcases her attitude, how she owns the vibe and is her attractive real self, LALISA.

The music video emphasizes the song’s main theme through choreography referring to the first letters of her name “LA” showed as the hand symbols. In another scenes, LISA is showing her Thai culture with The Great Crown of Victory. The crown represents the concept of divine monarchy, where the tall spire is a symbol of the authority and the right to rule over their subjects. She’s also wearing clothes made by Thai designer, Polpat Asavaprapha of ASAVA, inspired by the traditional Thai sabai top and a sarong wrap skirt. In addition, LISA is wearing an ear cuff inspired by Sangwan, a ceremonial necklace that symbolizes wealth and fortune, as well as bringing the aura of Thai culture by using gardenia flowers.

Besides LISA’s Thai clothing, the outstanding golden set in the music video is a recreation of the Phanom Rung Historical Park in Buriram Province, Thailand, LISA’s hometown.

The song was promoted throughout multiple teasers on LISA’s individual and BLACKPINK’s social media accounts, and followed by “LALISA” YouTube dance challenge.

What did Genius English Translations say about "LISA - LALISA (English Translation)"?
Genius Answer

I don’t write lyrics, but Teddy always asks me: ‘Do you have anything you want to deliver to the fans? What’s the vibe you want to do?’ I told him that in “LALISA,” I wanted to put some Thai vibes in it, and he actually put some Thai traditional music into the dance break. This is my first solo, and I want to represent that I’m Thai to all the fans around the world.

What was Lisa's reaction when she first heard the song?
Genius Answer

[Me and Teddy listened to a demo of “MONEY”] and then we heard [an early version of] “LALISA,” but the hook was another thing. Teddy had the idea to put my name in the hook. At first I was like, ‘Whaaa… I think it’s kind of weird to keep repeating my name. How’s it going to sound?’ And then we tried it, and it came out so cool. I really like it. […] At first, when I heard the rap [on the demo], I was like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t think I can do this. I’m Thai —how can I rap in English that fast?’ And Teddy was like, ‘No, you can!’ I practiced for an hour, and after that I went in to record. I pushed myself very hard to complete it.
