About
Marking the dynamic duo’s first collaboration, “Troll” sees IU and DEAN tell the familiar tale of two lovestruck exes who are not quite over each other. The collaboration was highly anticipated by fans since the two had previously shown love to each other – DEAN had supported IU on her 2017 Palette Tour and in the same year IU had covered the former’s critically acclaimed single “instagram,” released in December of that year.
Sprinkled with sweet melodies, the song begins with IU’s light, euphonious vocals that detail her honest confessions about her feelings. Effortlessly, the second verse showcases DEAN’s soothing vocals which highlight his nonchalant perspective on the relationship. Both singers vulnerably detail the intoxication felt by their time spent together and how hard it is to resist one another. As a result, the two are left hopelessly travelling in circles.
In June 2021, “Troll” surpassed 100 million digital index points on Gaon, making it the 8th song from LILAC to reach this milestone.
