This song is about individuality, and how modern society encourages and forces humans to all behave the same way, and they attempt to make it seem like its for the progress and good of mankind but it’s actually killing the soul and human creativity in the process.

If you really want to stretch it, it could possibly be a comment on communism, as in communist theory there is a heavy emphasis on equality, conformity and collectivism, everyone works for each other to move the country and everyone else forward, but in most communist countries, this has resulted in art forms being censored and all forms of protest silenced.
