SunKissing Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I had a dream that we were underwater
Drownin' in us
I've had a feelin' there's something up above
Maybe it's love

[Pre-Chorus]
California
Right in front of ya
Fast lane follower
Baby, take my hand and don't let go

[Chorus]
Come and catch a wave
Fade away like it rains in the summertime (In the summertime)
Make every mistake
We'll just fly far away, higher than the sky (Higher than the sky)
Light drifting, sun kissing (Oh-oh-oh)
Light drifting, sun kissing

[Verse 2]
I hear it calling, swimmin' every summer
Drownin' in us
Singing like starlings, maybe you're the one
Forever love
[Pre-Chorus]
California
Right in front of ya
Fast lane follower
Baby, take my hand and don't let go

[Chorus]
Come and catch a wave

Fade away like it rains in the summertime (In the summertime)
Make every mistake
We'll just fly far away, higher than the sky (Higher than the sky)
Light drifting, sun kissing (Oh-oh-oh)
Light drifting, sun kissing (Oh-oh)

[Post-Chorus]
Light drifting, sun kissing (Oh-oh)
Light drifting, sun kissing
(It's you that I've been missin')
(It's you that I've been missin')

(Oh-oh-oh)

[Bridge]
California
I'll take all of ya
California
Right in front of ya (Ooh)
[Outro]
Light drifting, sun kissing (It's you that I've been missin')
Light drifting, sun kissing (Drownin' in us)
Light drifting, sun kissing (It's you that I've been missin')
Light drifting, sun kissing (Maybe it's love)
(Ooh)

About

Genius Annotation

As the follow-up to 2022’s “Coast” featuring Anderson .Paak, Hailee Steinfeld unveils “SunKissing” in March 2023. Both tracks are love letters to her Californian roots — all about being present and living a carefree moment with a significant other in the summer. In an August 2022 interview with Grammy, the artist outlined the arrival of this new musical era:

I was able to create this whole universe, which I’ve never been able to do with my music. This is really the first time I’ve been able to build a proper world that I cannot wait for. Everybody’s getting a little taste of it with “Coast,” but there’s so much more where that came from.
