Irrelevant Elephant Lyrics

[Intro]
Yo, yo, yo, yo

[Verse 1]
There's an elephant, elephant inside the room
Well, one of us had to see it too soon
For one it's taking up, taking up all of the room
I nearly lost my footing when he hurt you
Sink or step down from the ranks in platoon
Tired of the hierarchy and I'm tired of the monsoon
All I want to do is continue to bloom
But all the eclipses
All the power of moons
Stood in the shade
(Watch how the sunflowers grew)
Something to do, yo
Waiting for
(So irritated from you)
Why'd I preserve? Yo
One foot in the two
One foot with the troops
One hand on a ziggy
One rat 'round a room
Oh geez, who are you?
Did you escape from the zoo?
I'd heard that, I'd heard that it
Escaped on the news, yeah
[Chorus]
There is an elephant in my room
I don't speak elephant
So what the fuck do I do?
When'd you escape? Ha
South of the Savannah
Swinging your big old trunk
Strapped to the manor
There is an elephant
There goes that elephant
With a big old eye for the truth
Yeah, yeah, yeah

[Verse 2]
Concern on my face
I don't want them to intrude
She looked in my eyes
And I think she saw all the truth, yo
Laid in my arms
Thinks she saw that I was unmoved
Hand on my heart
Feel I'm a little doomed, yo
Pulled out my ziggy
I had the twig on my brew (Brew)
Just tagging on
But I'll need a, an heirloom (Loom)
Spent all my cash on a Ruby Murray on Dishoom
Divied out the lot
I say I'm on the, I'm on the move
There's a malevolence elephant inside the truth
They took him too soon, yo
How was he best friends with his little crew
All the lies miss you too, yo
There's an elephant with a different crew, yo
Subsequently, auntie has been storming around the room
Iron out the drama
Watching up her lover
Think I'Il grab my parked car and then rush to the zoo
[Chorus]
There is an elephant in my room
I don't speak elephant
So what the fuck do I do?
When'd you escape? Ha
South of the Savannah
Swinging your big old trunk
Strapped to the manor
There is an elephant
There goes that elephant
With a big old eye for the truth
Yeah, yeah, yeah

What did Hak Baker say about "Irrelevant Elephant"?
Genius Answer

Hak’s music is so lyrical, laced with personal stories and anecdotes so I wanted the use of an elephant to have a visual and emotional meaning rather than just something fun to look at. I liked the idea of the elephant in the room becoming more of a nuisance, physically sharing and occupying the same frame, always looming. What at first seems harmless, once you scratch away at the surface, darkness lay beneath, and in our case, the parties over and addiction will rear its ugly head.
