The song serves as a second reprise for “Part of Your World.” Different from what the lyrics expressed on the first reprise, this one is sadder, on the context of the film, Eric (Jonah Hauer-King) has fallen onto the spell of Vanessa (Jessica Alexander), Ursula’s human form, who has used Ariel’s stolen voice to enchant him. Ariel’s purpose is broken, she has lost all hope, and she has nowhere to go now.
