Take Me Home Tonight Lyrics
Whoa-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh
Yeah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
[Verse 1]
I feel the hunger, it's a hunger
It tries to keep a man awake at night
Are you the answer? I shouldn't wonder
When I feel it whet my appetite
With all the power you're releasing
It isn't safe to walk the city streets alone
Anticipation's running through me
Let's find the keys and turn this engine on
[Pre-Chorus]
I can feel you breathe
I can feel your heart beat faster
[Chorus]
Take me home tonight
I don't wanna let you go 'til you see the light
Take me home tonight
Listen, honey, just like Ronnie sang
Be my little baby
Yeah, ea-ah, ah
I get frightened in this darkness
I get nightmares, I hate to sleep alone
I need some company, a guardian angel
To keep me warm when the cold winds blow
[Pre-Chorus]
I can feel you breathe
I can feel your heart beat faster
[Chorus]
Take me home tonight
I don't wanna let you go 'til you see the light
Take me home tonight
Listen, honey, just like Ronnie sang
Be my little baby
Be my little baby, oh
[Guitar Solo]
[Bridge]
Just like Ronnie sang
I said uh, just like Ronnie sang
Be my little baby
Baby my darling, whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh
It's a hunger
Take me home tonight
I don't wanna let you go 'til you see the light
Take me home tonight
Listen, honey, just like Ronnie sang
Be my little baby
Take me home tonight
I don't wanna let you go 'til you see the light
Take me home tonight
Listen, honey, just like Ronnie sang (Oh, oh)
Take me home tonight (Whoa)
Take me home tonight
Take me home tonight
Take me home tonight
About
Hold On Hollywood began playing a cover of the late Eddie Money’s smash hit song “Take Me Home Tonight” back in 2016 occasionally at shows. When the band performed at the 94.5 Bud Light Roast at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in 2018, they played this cover to an audience that they were largely new to in the hopes the crowd would better connect with the band, and it worked.
The crowd loved it, 94.5 the Buzz (at the time 4th largest Alternative station in the US) talked about the cover a lot on air, and it became a staple in most all future HOH sets from then on. As a result, the band went back in with Grammy-nominated producer Stephen Bogle, who recorded their debut EP “Save Me,” to record their version of the classic smash hit. Somewhere along the line after tracking all of the parts and getting an initial mix together to start working on, the release got shelved and almost never saw the light of day.
When the band recorded “Love Stories” in 2019, the demand for “Take Me Home Tonight” had only grown among fans even more. Knowing they were sitting on an amazing rendition of an even more amazing song, the band’s manager Jeff Dees went back to Stephen Bogle, and together they hammered out a solid mix of the song for release as a treat for fans near Christmas time in December of 2019.
With the release of “Love Stories” right around the corner, the band didn’t want to see possible momentum for their rendition getting overshadowed by the new EP. They felt the song was strong, the fans loved it, and it deserved a spot on the whole release to see it’s full potential. It was decided it would be added as the final track for HOH’s sophomore EP, bringing a rightfully fitting, massive close to a massive sounding release.
