The Devil Want Smoke (If Pop Smoke Was A Pastor) Lyrics

[Chorus]
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord
I give him thanks, Jesus (Thank You)
He’ll change your life, I mean it
I used to fight demons (Rrr)

You better pray, pray for protection
You see the plate, pass it collection
Devil want beef, he know we steppin'
Roll with the Bible, that is my weapon (Brr!)
I used to run up inside of yo job
Now all the felons, I pray for 'em all
Wait, huh (Woo)
Devil an opp, we pray to God
Where is the Deacon? Where is the Usher?
Devil want smoke, I’m gonna rush 'em (Boom!)
Step on his nеck, I’m gonna crush 'em
I never liе, I won’t discuss 'em

[Verse]
Yes, I'm the pastor
God, protect us from all the disasters
See the devil, then I’m gonna blast him
Turn him into a ghost, Casper
I don’t walk in my faith, I run faster

I do my dance in the name of God
Yeah, it’s the truth, no, it ain't facade
Yeah, He gave 'em fish, yeah, He got the cod
Broke up the bread, yeah, He fed 'em all

Yes, He is able, dinner time, I’m sitting at the table
He was born in the manger, no cradle
Turn water to wine, no maple
Pray to God on the weekend like Abel
Made me stable when I was unstable
Take a look at my eyes, hazel
Read the Bible, I follow what they do
Read the Bible, I follow what they do
[Chorus]
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord
I give him thanks, Jesus (Thank You)
He’ll change your life, I mean it
I used to fight demons (Rrr)

You better pray, pray for protection
You see the plate, pass it collection
Devil want beef, he know we steppin'
Roll with the Bible, that is my weapon (Brr!)
I used to run up inside of yo job
Now all the felons, I pray for 'em all
Wait, huh (Woo)
Devil an opp, we pray to God
Where is the Deacon? Where is the Usher?
Devil want smoke, I’m gonna rush 'em (Boom!)
Step on his neck, I’m gonna crush 'em
I never lie, I won’t discuss 'em

[Bridge]
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord (Brr!)
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord (Rrr)
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord
I’m in Dior, I praise the Lord

[Outro]
If they got beef, then we steppin', yeah, the Bible's my weapon
If they got beef, then we steppin', yeah, the Bible's my weapon
If they got beef, then we steppin', yeah, the Bible's my weapon
If they got beef, then we steppin', yeah, the Bible's my weapon
Huh

About

Genius Annotation

The Canadian artist and content creator iamTresor pays tribute to the late Pop Smoke with “The Devil Want Smoke,” where he impersonates the New York-based rapper while imagining him turning into…a Christian pastor.

The song stems from a short video Tresor had posted on social media at the start of October 2021, which rapidly became popular and gained even more attention when an animator added his own contribution to the clip. The content creator eventually decided to release the full version of the track a few days later, on October 12: him and Jk D Animator would then work together to provide the parody with an official music video.

It’s worth noticing that, although faith wasn’t necessarily a key theme of his music, Pop Smoke was first introduced to music by singing in his church choir as a child, and started following the principles of Islam shortly before his murder, according to his older brother Obasi. He mentioned Allah on a frequent basis in his songs, with notable examples being “Be Clearr,” Jay Gwuapo’s “Black Mask” and “More Time.”
