Pain Killer Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Most when it's almost like a bane
You arrive like a siren refrain
Like death, she takes everything
And dazes me like patent medicine
Into this strange divine
The road was serpentine
A network of silken threads
Spider's trapping web
Makes me rue the day

[Chorus 1]
You became my pain killer
I rue the day
Alright, alright, alright

[Verse 2]
Praying at the altar of your legs and feet
Your saliva is a drug so bittersweet
I'll arrogate what's there to take
In an evanescent embrace
Anesthetic liaison
Honey honey you’re my medication
Like love, you take everything
And this static yearn
Makes me rue the day
[Chorus 1]
You became my pain killer
I rue the day
Alright, alright, alright

[Bridge]
Strange divine
Strange divine
Strange divine

[Chorus 2]
I rue the day
You became my pain killer
I rue the day
Alright, alright, alright
I rue the day
You became my pain killer
I rue the day
Alright, alright, alright
You became my pain killer
You became my pain killer

What did Iceage say about "Pain Killer"?
Genius Answer

Elias Bender Rønnenfelt on song’s themes and Sky Ferreira’s participation:

[…] it’s just a desire-driven song about being drawn to a feeling that might not be good for you. And you can look at that whichever way you want. But it was sort of in the finishing stages of the writing of the song, I just thought that it would really add not only to the feeling of the song but also the meaning of the lyrics if there were two voices instead of one. And I just thought about who that might be and she [Sky Ferreira] was really the first one that came to mind. I could really see her doing something with that song and she agreed to do it.
