Some days when I'm dreaming, I think of how far I have come
All my life's led to this, and now I see what I've become
I always had doubted that I could ever be someone
That mattered, that shattered all these glass ceilings up above
[Pre-Chorus]
All that I want is to see all the things that I could be
Destiny's calling me
[Chorus]
We're children of the sky, flying up so high
Let me be that one to find the brightest sun
We're children of the sky, guided by the light
Let me reach new heights, to stars amongst the night
Children of the sky
[Verse 2]
I cannot give up hope, though there are storms within my seas
Won't turn back when I lack, sometimes it's hard just to believe
I've wanted to save us from ourselves

About
On August 29, 2023, Imagine Dragons posted an image to their social medias, with the caption “tomorrow” as well as a countdown on their official website set for 10 AM EST of the following day:
Soon after, hints were posted to the Imagine Dragons Official Discord:
These hints were used to find a discord bot named SNOGARD (DRAGONS backwards), which allowed server members to find words to make up the chorus of the song. ‘SNOGARD’ has appeared in Imagine Dragons' music videos as an easter egg for a long time, dating back to the song “On Top Of The World” from the band’s debut album Night Visions.
The band also replied to a Tweet by podcast host Lex Fridman (who had Dan on his podcast 2 months before Act 2’s release) about playing the upcoming Bethesda Game Studios game Starfield, releasing on September 6, 2023, with the eyes emoji, suggesting that the single would be a soundtrack song for the game.

Dan Reynolds:
Bethesda created iconic games we’ve been playing for most of our lives, and we’re honoured to have collaborated on this song for Starfield. The song, like the game, asks some of the most difficult questions we face as humans trying to find our place in the universe.
