Call the Sheriff Lyrics

[Intro]
(Hands up)

[Verse 1]
Boy, I could've killed you last night
But now we're rolling naked in the light
We promised it was over this time
But we lie, lie, lie lied, we lie, lie, lie lied
Boy, I keep on pushing 'til you fall
You always pull me back into your arms
We promised we would love each other right
But we lie, lie, lie lied, we lie, lie, lie lied

[Pre-Chorus]
I know this is madness
I can't quit, I'm begging you - save me
So desperate
Just take me away

[Chorus]
Someone call the sheriff
'Cause I committed a crime
I loved you too much
And I'm proud to do the time
Someone call the sheriff
And tell 'em I'm insane
I'm locked in this for life and I don't wanna clear my name (No!)
You know I'm no, not not ashamed at all
Ashamed to get lost in the feelin', the feelin'
Carve my name into the wall
Carve it so deep that it's bleedin', it's bleedin'
Call the sheriff
Ey, yea
(Come come)

[Verse 2]
Everybody know's we ain't smart
To think that we could ever be apart
You know we're bound together, you and I
No lie, lie, lie lie, lie, lie, lie lie

[Pre-Chorus]
I know this is madness
I can't quit, I'm begging you - save me
So desperate
Just take me away

[Chorus]
Someone call the sheriff
'Cause I committed a crime
I loved you too much
And I'm proud to do the time
Someone call the sheriff
And tell 'em I'm insane
I'm locked in this for life and I don't wanna clear my name (No!)
You know I'm no, not not ashamed at all
Ashamed to get lost in the feelin', the feelin'
Carve my name into the wall
Carve it so deep that it's bleedin', it's bleedin'
Call the sheriff

[Instrumental break]
(Holdin' on, holdin' on)
(Holdin' on, holdin' on)
(Holdin' on, holdin' on)
(Holdin' on, holdin' on)
(Holdin' on, holdin' on)

Oh

Holdin' on, holdin' on
Holdin' on, holdin' on
Holdin' on, holdin' on
Holdin' on, holdin' on
Holdin' on, holdin' on
Holdin' on, holdin' on
Holdin' on, holdin' on

Oh

[Chorus]
Someone call the sheriff
'Cause I committed a crime
I loved you too much
And I'm proud to do the time
Someone call the sheriff
And tell 'em I'm insane
I'm locked in this for life and I don't wanna clear my name (No!)
You know I'm no, not not ashamed at all
Ashamed to get lost in the feelin', the feelin'
Carve my name into the wall
Carve it so deep that it's bleedin', it's bleedin'
[Outro]
Someone call the sheriff
I loved you too much (No!)
Someone call the sheriff
I loved you too much (No!)
Someone call the sheriff
Call the sheriff

About

Genius Annotation

“Call The Sheriff” is an unreleased song by Julia Michaels. The song was produced by Jason Evigan and co-written with Kate Nash, Evigan and Marie Sofia Nina Woodford.

The song (specifically the chorus) consists of clever metaphors and rhymes revolving around a sort of “love crime” that Julia committed. Very confident in this relationship, she loves her partner “too much”, which ultimately leads her to suffer, but still she feels proud in taking the consequences and feels no shame for her actions.
