J Cole & NoName Lyrics

[Hook]
On the same team once again
We ain’t finna do the J Cole and Noname
Ever heard the saying ‘no pain no gain’
Cops beat my ass I ain’t gain no weight

[Verse 1: Jalopy Bungus]
Our president’s a racist
His opponent is a rapist
Bernie crooked too, shed tears
If you did what his wife did you’d get ten years
Police are here to create profit
So good cops don’t exist
Sixteen shots in the Glock
Sixteen cops pray to god I don’t miss
Ooh, yeah we finna turn the gas up
(no, all lives matter!) Shut yo ass up!
This a everyday thing, this is not a trend
You’re lucky wе just want equality and not revengе
Two dope boys in a busted-ass rental
Five over speed limit red and blue in the window
First thing I think: wife finna be a widow
Third thing I think: I probably finna get a ticket
Based off of that, something wrong with the system
They call us criminal that’s just a substitute for n*****
Gave me a curfew, I replied “whose block”
I’ma turn Tupac, pullin’ in two cops
[Hook]
On the same team once again
We ain’t finna do the J Cole and Noname
Ever heard the saying ‘no pain no gain’
Cops beat my ass I ain’t gaining no weight
Police are here to create profit
So good cops don’t exist
Sixteen shots in the Glock
Sixteen cops pray to god I don’t miss

[Verse 2: Quelle Chris]
N****s out here takin’ long shots
You go on Facebook you already being watched
Billy Gates and them is already on your block
You smurf on a snitch and they be gaspin a lot
Whitey talking ‘bout TikTok
But a pandemic poppin’ and I’m dodging drip-drops
Killer cops still walk free
They ain’t worried ‘bout them but they pressed about the Chinese
This ain’t nothin’ new n****s been on
They done set the bar so low n****s limboing
Stay say they waiting for the president to Venmo ‘em
To that relief free up tell my landlord I’ma pray for him
I’ma need the last four years and forty acres back
And I ain’t tryna split the difference
These Karens out here lookin’ cracked out
But they worried ‘bout how we livin’
[Hook]
On the same team once again
We ain’t finna do the J Cole and Noname
Ever heard the saying ‘no pain no gain’
Cops beat my ass I ain’t gaining no weight
Police are here to create profit
So good cops don’t exist
Sixteen shots in the Glock
Sixteen cops pray to god I don’t miss

Genius Annotation

This hard-hitting track sees Jalopy Bungus reflect on the current madness that is the United States with a focus on police brutality and injustice against people of color. The title is a clear reference to the “beef” that occurred in June 2020 between J Cole and Noname which played out through a series of criticisms Cole made toward the rappers in his track Snow on Tha Bluff. Noname soon followed with a release of her own Song 33 in which she offered a response to Cole. in J Cole & Noname, Jalopy Bungus emphasizes that petty fights, especially between people who are on the same side are unproductive and draw attention away from the more serious issues at hand. Whether it was intentional or not, Jalopy’s mention of the feud only in the hook and nowhere else in the song symbolizes how trivial the issue was, especially in comparison to the content of the verses. The track features a clever verse from Quelle Chris who expands upon the main themes of the song by alluding to issues plaguing the current sociopolitical climate of the US.
