“Finally” is the last song on James Arthur’s 2016 album Back From The Edge, despite being written while James was struggling significantly with his mental health, the song is about making the people in his life proud of him regardless of the mistakes he made, this song closes the theme of how mental health can affect an individual in a positive way and shows that there is redemption at the end.

James Arthur stated the following about “Finally” during a track-by-track interview:
Funnily enough, I wrote this one when I was at my very very lowest. It’s weird because it sounds as though I have got to a point of clarity in the song, the lyrics sound as though I’m in a place where finally my parents are proud of me, finally everyone believes in me again, finally I’m in a place where I am really happy and everything worked out but actually when I wrote that song I wasn’t, I was at probably my lowest and I was just envisaging being in that place. I think when I first recorded it I was on the brink of a breakdown. I don’t know how that came about it just came from a really honest place.
Funnily enough, I did get to a place where I was happy again, I am in a place where I am happy again, and its perfect to be the last song on the album, it can be the finale, if you’d like.
