First Time Again Lyrics
The mention of your name
Oh that's all it takes
My heart re-breaks
My whole world shakes
And it's flashback driveway pouring rain
Nothing I could do nothing I can say
To slow you down
And right now
[Chorus: Jason Aldean]
It's like the first time watching you walk away
Begging baby please just stay
Feeling every second of the clock tick by
On an endless night
The first time seeing you with someone new
Dying inside trying to play it cool
It don't matter how long it's been
I'm always missing you
For the first time again
[Verse 2: Kelsea Ballerini]
Yeah, you could start with an old song
Feeling you come on
Oh it could be at a party
Seeing everybody
Ooh and I'm right back wishing you were right back here
Wishing that missing you would just disappear
But it don't and it won't
And baby here I go
It's like the first time watching you walk away
Begging baby please just stay
Feeling every second of the clock tick by
On an endless night
The first time seeing you with someone new
Dying inside trying to play it cool
It don't matter how long it's been
I'm always missing you
For the first time again
Oh, the first time again
[Bridge: Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Both]
It don't let up, it don't get better
Hell it just might last forever
But it all takes me back
It all takes me back
[Chorus: Jason Aldean, Kelsea Ballerini, Both]
To the first time watching you walk away
Begging baby please just stay
Feeling every second of the clock tick by
On an endless night
The first time seeing you with someone new
Dying inside trying to play it cool
It don't matter how long it's been
I'm always missing you
For the first time again
I'm always missing you
For the first time again
For the first time again

Jason stopped by the Nash Country Daily in August 2016, to talk about the song before it’s release:
“I originally recorded ‘First Time Again’ with no intent of it being a duet. We kind of listened to it and thought it could very well be a duet, and so then you just start listening around for artists.
I had heard Kelsea sing, heard a couple songs she had put out, then heard ‘Peter Pan,’ and there was something different about her voice on it than the other songs she had put out. It gave me a chance to really hear her vocals.
Obviously, she’s off to a great start in her career and doing really well, so she was on our radar. We sent her the song, and she liked it and wanted to be a part of it.
She came in and nailed her part and did great. Then also on the background vocals, the stuff she was singing with me sounded great. I thought she did amazing."
