Stoned on You Lyrics

[Verse 1]
We're making this bust together
You're taking my mind off of the pressure
I'm gone with the wind, high like a feather
Your love is like codeine

[Chorus]
Girl, I get stoned on you
Rubbing my bones on you
Nothing else burns like you
Ripping my shirt off you

[Verse 2]
There's something about the way you shiver
Even in the morning
Girl, I get stoned
And I'll take a bullet for you right now
Just to keep you in my lungs

[Chorus]
Girl, I get stoned on you
Rubbing my bones on you
Nothing else burns like you (oh)
Ripping my shirt off you (oh yeah)

[Bridge]
My fingertips
On your lips
My racing hands
Down your hips
Ohh, ohh, ohh, ohh

[Chorus]
Girl, I get stoned on you
Rubbing my bones on you (yeah)
Nothing else burns like you do
Oh Lord, I get stoned on you, oh
Stoned!

Girl, I get stoned on you
Rubbing my bones on you (rubbing my bones on you, oh)
Nothing else burns like you (nothing ever burns like you)
Ripping my shirt off you

[Outro]
Oh, you get me so stoned
Out of my mind
Out of my mind
Out of my mind

About

Genius Annotation

“Stoned On You” is a song about being totally infatuated with someone to the extent that it’s really an intoxicating experience.

In an interview with Impose Magazine, Jaymes Young said:

“Stoned On You” actually started with a song I wrote years ago, I only took the chorus from the old version. Its hard to say what inspired me to write it then, but once I reformatted it to my current liking I really wanted to finish it. I just felt the need to write a love song from that inebriated point of view that many of us feel when we’re into it way too deep.

Genius Answer

I first wrote that [“Stoned On You”] in the middle of 2016, and I hadn’t had a lot of songs that were positive love songs. I wanted to put out a song that reflected the crazy feeling you get when your head-over-heels for somebody and infatuated. That’s what it feels like to me when I’m in that space and I meet somebody and let somebody in. It’s very intense and you feel like you’re stoned on the person. I really wanted to write something that was about the sexier aspect of being in a relationship with someone, but while still keeping a little bit of substance and meaning in the verses of the other parts of the song.

– Jaymes Young in a 2017 interview with Billboard.
