julia Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I dreamed of you last week
Remembered old memories
Cryin' in my sleep
But I'd rather dream of nothin' at all
The more I think I grow
The less I seem to know
Oh, oh, no
You saw me sing last week
I was hopin' you might ask
"Is this one about me?"

But how could you just say nothin' at all?
The more I think I grow
The less I seem to know
Oh, oh, no

[Chorus]
Julia, I'm through with ya
Julia, I'm through with ya

[Post-Chorus]
Thought we'd never see the sun fade
Now we'll never see that shit shinin'
Did we use to fear the dark days?
'Cause now I'm dancin' in the moonlight
Above the city lights, yeah
Where all the shooting stars eventually die, yeah (We lost on that)
We're burned into the sky a million times
Oh, oh, mmm
Ooh
[Interlude]
We're up

[Verse 2]
Movin' at light speed
And I don't need gravity
Runnin' on empty
Isn't it nice to just feel nothin' at all?
I think I finally know
The reason I let go

[Chorus]
Julia, I'm through with ya
Julia, I'm through with ya

[Post-Chorus]
Thought we'd never see the sun fade
Now we'll never see that shit shinin'
Did we use to fear the dark days? (Julia)
'Cause now I'm dancing in the moonlight (I'm through with ya)
Above the city lights, yeah
Where all the shooting stars eventually die (Julia; die)
We're burned into the sky a million times
Oh, oh, mmm
Ooh
[Interlude]
Well, just ignore this one

[Chorus]
Julia, I'm through with ya
Julia, I'm through with ya

Genius Annotation

“julia” is the fourth and last single from Jeremy’s debut album, love is not dying.

The song is about a woman that Jeremy was apparently seeing, and the two started talking over the internet, slowly started meeting, and then fell in love. The love story didn’t last forever as the two are no longer together.

Jeremy said via Twitter on March 24, 2020 that “julia” was his favorite song he has ever released. A day before, Jeremy teased the song through a Tweet and an Instagram post.

Genius Answer

Everything about “julia” — the lyrics and the melody and the production and the structure and the dynamic shifts — is exactly what I wanted to make. It is a song about a person who I wrote a lot of my previous songs about. This was the last song that I was going to write about her. I needed some closure. Between all those reasons, I guess that’s why it’s my favorite. It fits a very specific part of my life.

Genius Answer

I wrote this song over a year ago, right when I got home from my first US headline tour. ‘julia’ is a song about self-realization and closure. It was the first song I finished for the album, and it encapsulates the most important emotions and feelings that come up in the album.
