Finally Free Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Racing toward the horizon to see the rear-view moon
I'm chasing pavement, escaping the life I knew, ooh
Give me empty pages, just give me something new
I’m makin' up for the time that I lost on you

[Pre-Chorus]
And I'm never gonna turn this car around
And I’m getting lost, don't care if I am found

[Chorus]
Breakin' away from the broken hearts
No more mistakes, no more empty starts
I'm finally, finally free, finally, finally
New state of mind on the interstate
Nobody takin' my life away
I'm finally, finally free, finally, finally me

[Verse 2]
Buildin' out from the bottom
Now there's no way to go but up
And I’m not gonna stop ’til I get enough

[Pre-Chorus]
And I'm going down a road that I don’t know
Yeah, I let it take me anywhere but home
[Chorus]
Breakin' away from the broken hearts
No more mistakes, no more empty starts
I'm finally, finally free, finally, finally
New state of mind on the interstate
Nobody takin' my life away
I’m finally, finally free, finally, finally me, finally me

[Bridge]
I'm never going back to who I've been (Never going back again)
I'm never going back to way back when (I'm not going)
I'm taking my time, won't be defined by who I was back then
I'm never going back again, again, again, again

[Chorus]
Breakin' away from the broken hearts
No more mistakes, no more empty starts
I'm finally, finally free, finally
New state of mind on the interstate
Nobody takin' my life away (Life away, I'm)
I'm finally, finally free, finally, finally me, finally me (Me)

[Outro]
Finally free
Finally, finally
Finally me, finally

What did Joshua Bassett say about "Finally Free"?
Genius Answer

Finally Free is kind of where Ricky [Joshua’s character in the show] is at a point where, where he’s just over all the drama, over all the BS, and he’s finally out on the open road, going to camp, and he’s like, ‘You know what? This is the summer of fun, nothing’s holding me back anymore’, and I think for myself, you know, the journey I’ve been in my life, I recently feel like I’m in a place where I’m finally free, so it was really awesome to write the song from not only Ricky’s perspective but from my perspective.
