Ricky recently went through a breakup with his girlfriend, Nini, and is struggling to move on. During spring break, he visits his mother in Chicago, who comforts him and opens up about her past relationship with his father, relating it to his situation. She tells him that, sometimes, letting the person you love go is the best thing for both parties, and encourages him to work on something to help clear his mind. Afterward, he reflects on his relationship with Nini and performs the song on piano in his bedroom, finding a sense of closure.
