I Don’t Miss You Lyrics
I've never called her by your name
I'm lucky yours and hers aren't similar in any way
But you're an undertone still, if she listens
You're on the tip of my tongue when we're kissing
[Pre-Chorus]
And my conscience is flooded
But I don't think much of it
It's subconscious and sudden
So I don't let it mean anything
[Chorus]
I don't miss you
I just fantasize about you
Being someone who loves me
It's not fair to anybody
But I just can't get you off of my mind
I don't miss you
I just fantasize about you
Being someone who loves me
I can't help it, how I dream
As if you're painted on the back of my eyes
I don't miss you
I just think about you all the time
I just think about you all the time
I can't say that I expected
Just how many moments where we'd still be so connected
You sneak up on my imagination
In the worst possible situations
[Pre-Chorus]
And my conscience is flooded
But I don't think much of it
It's subconscious and sudden
So I don't let it mean anything
[Chorus]
I don't miss you
I just fantasize about you
Being someone who loves me
It's not fair to anybody
But I just can't get you off of my mind
I don't miss you
I just fantasize about you
Being someone who loves me
I can't help it, how I dream
As if you're painted on the back of my eyes
I don't miss you
I just think about you all the time
I just think about you all the time
I don't miss you
I just fantasize about you
Being someone who loves me
It's not fair to anybody
But I just can't get you off of my mind
I don't miss you
I just fantasize about you
Being someone who loves me (Someone, someone who loves me)
I can't help it, how I dream
As if you're painted on the back of my eyes
I don't miss you
I just think about you all the time
I just think about you all the time
[Outro]
I don't miss you
I just think about you all the time
I just think about you all the time

Find answers to frequently asked questions about the song and explore its deeper meaning
‘I Don’t Miss You’ is me trying to lie to myself about my feelings — how I distract myself from them, how I compartmentalize them, and how I ultimately lose to them. My guiding principle in my songwriting is ‘am I’m telling the truth’, so a song that’s lying to itself may seem a tad antithetical, but the truth is, trying to hide from how I feel about people is a common and futile adventure inside my head, and I’m excited for this song to bring people into that with me.
I’d been working on that song for a long time, and I couldn’t quite find the right first lyric for the chorus. And finally I thought it would be worth calling in some reinforcements, so I texted John Mayer and I asked him if he may know what that lyric was supposed to be. And he said, ‘Well, why don’t you come to the studio and I’ll play some guitars on the record, and we’ll see if we can figure out that lyric.’ And that’s exactly what we did.
