Eat the Acid, a spiritual dark-Americana-scented bass-based ballad, was written the day after Kesha had a spiritual awakening mid COVID-19 isolation. The song was the first she wrote for her upcoming fifth studio album. It was first teased on an Instagram live stream that took place on March 8th, 2023. ‘'Eat the Acid’‘ is heavily influenced by Kesha’s gurus, the filmmaker David Lynch and the music producer Rick Rubin, who signed the executive production of the album. The title takes inspiration from advice Pebe Sebert, Kesha’s mother, gave her from a young age to not to take LSD.
