more Lyrics

[Chorus]
Said she want more, I'm not enough
Gettin' low and I think I'm givin' up
Baby, come home, I want us
I want us, said I want us
Said she want more, I'm not enough
Gettin' low and I think I'm givin' up
Baby, come home, I want us
I want us, said I want us

[Verse 1]
Said I gotta get money, swear I still love you
I don't wanna go, but you know that I have to
Touch road, gotta play shows
Crowd go wild for the shit I wrote
But this shit so-so, lose control

Gotta change up everything I know
Better, run ways when you smell that smoke
Better, hold me when my head gon' blow like

[Pre-Chorus]
Hasta la vista, dyin' to see ya
In a dream that I had where I sing in arenas
Hasta la vista, dyin' to see ya, baby
It ain't so bad when there's nothin' between us
[Chorus]
Said she want more, I'm not enough
Gettin' low and I think I'm givin' up
Baby, come home, I want us
I want us, said I want us
Said she want more, I'm not enough
Gettin' low and I think I'm givin' up
Baby, come home, I want us
I want us, said I want us

[Verse 2]
Gone so fast, all the bad habits
Not gon' last, better run back, kid
Just so sad, worse than last year
Just might crash, just might crash
Just might
Everybody left except for you and I
She don't want stories and lullabies
She don't understand that it's do or die
Said I can buy it all, but it's all a lie

[Bridge]
No trade for the things I lost
No train for the boy that stopped
Run ways into these arms of mine
No trade for the things I lost
No train for the boy that stopped
Run ways into these arms of mine
[Chorus]
Said she want more, I'm not enough
Gettin' low and I think I'm givin' up
Baby, come home, I want us (Yeah-eah, yeah, ooh-ooh-ooh)
I want us, said I want us
Said she want more, I'm not enough
(Like hasta la vista)
Gettin' low and I think I'm givin' up (Yeah-yeah-yeah, -eah)
(Dyin' to see ya)
Baby, come home, I want us
(In a dream that I had)
I want us, said I want us
(Where I sing in arenas)
Said she want more, I'm not enough
(Like hasta la vista)
Gettin' low and I think I'm givin' up (Yeah-yeah-yeah, -eah)
(Dyin' to see ya)
Baby, come home, I want us
(In a dream that I had)
I want us, said I want us

Genius Annotation

Three months after the release of his fifth EP bandaids, keshi is already gearing up for his next EP with the release of “more”; a song about his personal struggles with keeping up with his relationship while in pursuit of his dreams of becoming a performing artist.

The single was first teased via Twitter on January 23, 2020 with a screenshot of a text conversation with a link to the demo, as well as a now-deleted Instagram story:

“more” was originally set to be released on June 16, but the single was delayed in the midst of the worldwide protests regarding George Floyd’s murder. keshi explained the decision on his social media:

I’m learning more and more about the effects of systemic racism in this country and how it has conditioned us to believe that the things that justify racism and police brutality are inherent and unshakable parts of society. Acknowledging and understanding this is the first step to promoting and supporting change towards policies that would help level the playing field.

Two weeks later, a trailer teasing its release was released:

I’d been trying to write a song about feeling like I was drifting away for a long time. It’d pop up in every demo I tried to write, but it never felt clear until I decided to make it the main subject. There’s a dissonance in my life now that I can’t ignore, just gotta work through it.

It was one of the very early songs I managed to finish after the bandaids record. I was definitely a bit drained from having just wrapped that one, so songs that were gems were far and few in between. When I wrote “more” it felt pretty effortless, like I’d been stockpiling everything I wanted to say for a while, it was just kinda spread out into lyrics on different demos.

What was the process of making the song like?
