Genius Annotation

Wayne’s Story, encapsulates the pain cycle of young kids on the South Side of Chicago and the environment they grew up in. This story starts with a situation where an adult took money from a dice game where one of the players shot and killed him for it in front of 5 witnesses. It appears after this incident “shorty” did not go to jail, despite the “whole city” knew he was “killin shit”. 5 years later “shorty” is still wildin' and now on the news probably for going in and out of jail. However “shorty” does not care and thinks its fun, as he skips school and breaks rules. “Shorty” has a choice between school and the streets and chooses the lifestyle most familiar with him, how could you blame him. Money became more prevelant to “shorty” at the time, as he needed rent money. However due to his gang activities and whatever he went to jail for made it hard for him to get a regular job. So why would he try harder to make money if he could just put a ski mask on and get it the quick way?
