Genius Annotation

LTtheMonk’s ‘On The Wall’ was inspired by Spike Lee’s 1989 movie ‘Do The Right Thing’, a movie set in the Bed-Stuy neighbourhood of Brooklyn, New York. And to set the scene of the Spike Lee-inspired album, LT takes us through a 2 day trip he took to Brooklyn as he began writing the project, showing us the many different shades and complexions he witnessed, and discussing family ties to allude to later songs that you’ll hear on the album, namely ‘Who Do You Think You Are’.

And after starting the song with a tone of violence, to foreshadow the strong emotions and stories you’ll hear on the album, as well as to further pay homage to the storyline of ‘Do The Right Thing’, LT ends the intro with one more ode, taking Samuel L. Jackson’s ‘DJ Love Daddy’ character, and turning it into his own ‘DJ Papi Face’ (inspired by LT’s own 2018 song ‘Papi Face’), using the medium of radio to get the listeners comfortable on this album journey.

The song’s title is also inspired by the 2012 movie ‘2 Days In New York’, starring Chris Rock, who is also a native of Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
