Cold As You Lyrics

[Verse 1]
It's a junked out joint off a backroad
A blinkin' window sign with an arrow
A gravel Iot chock full o' toolbox trucks
Makin' their happy hour way home

[Pre-Chorus]
When guys like me lose girls like you
That's where we run to

[Chorus]
They got "Whiskey River" on the jukebox
A honky tonk sawdust dance floor
A neon, five o'clock, pro clock
And plenty damn many when you want one more
This broke-heart fool on an old bar stool
Drinkin' beer almost as cold as you

[Verse 2]
Bunch of good time numbers on the stall door
A picture o' you on the dart board
Them cinder block walls ain't ever been cleaned
Still ain't as dirty as you done me

[Chorus]
"Whiskey River" on the jukebox
A honky-tonk sawdust dance floor
A neon, five o'clock, pro clock
And plenty damn many when you want one more
This broke-heart fool on an old bar stool
Drinkin' beer almost as cold as you
[Instrumental]

[Pre-Chorus]
When guys like me lose girls like you
That's where we run to

[Chorus]
We got "Whiskey River" on a jukebox
A honky-tonk sawdust dance floor
A neon, five o'clock, pro clock
And plenty damn many when you want one more
This broke-heart fool on an old bar stool
Drinkin' beer almost as cold as you

[Outro]
Cold as you

Genius Annotation

Released in the deluxe edition of Combs’ album What You See Is What You Get, instead named What You See Ain’t Always What You Get, Cold As You is an ode to heartbreak. With powerful guitars and a strong country feel, the song describes the comfort of a bar scene from the hurt of a raw, recent breakup.

What did Luke Combs say about "Cold As You"?
Genius Answer

I love writing these kind of songs, with these big choruses. When we went into the studio, I felt like the song didn’t turn out differently. We were like, ‘Hey, let’s just make this song what it already is. Let’s not overthink this thing, and just have fun with it.’ We wanted to make it strong and make it fun.
