ARTPOP Lyrics
Come to me
In all your glamour and cruelty
Just do that thing that you do
And I'll undress you
Keep it tight
Sometimes the simplest move is right
The melody that you choose
Can rescue you
[Pre-Chorus 1]
A hybrid can withstand these things
My heart can beat with bricks and strings
My ARTPOP could mean anything
[Chorus]
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)
[Verse 2]
Come to me
With all your subtext and fantasy
Just do that thing that you do
In a perverse hue
Lovers' kites
Are flown on beaches for public sight
The color palette you choose
Could profit you
A hybrid can withstand these things
My heart can beat with bricks and strings
My ARTPOP could mean anything
Could try to sell you out or I
Could show you all the reasons why
My ARTPOP could mean anything
[Chorus]
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)
[Bridge]
Brushes of darkness won't help you create Your destiny of self
But ARTPOP could mean anything
Anything
I try to sell myself, but I am really laughing
Because I just love the music, not the bling
Music, not the bling
[Chorus]
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP)
We could, we could belong together (ARTPOP, ARTPOP, ARTPOP)
About
The title track is Gaga’s manifesto of art and pop coming together. The line in chorus “We could belong together (ARTPOP)” refers to art and pop being one, just like herself and her Little Monsters. The blending of art and pop is happening here and throughout the album.
PROPOSED SUGGESTION: Art is meant to provoke different reactions to its audience, so there’s never essentially one true meaning. People try so hard to find one “true” meaning to LG’s various songs and music videos. Her POP songs and POP music videos are “her ART.” This is LG’s simple answer to anyone that asks what all of her songs and music videos even mean. They could mean anything. Everything she creates (songs, visuals, music videos) can and will mean a different way to each person, just like how art is meant to be.

“Artpop” is really an inferno, and it’s the only song on the record that I didn’t really want it to go anywhere or explode or orgasm, because in a way that would be like composing something that’s just like every other orgasm I’ve ever had.
