“Cut You Off” was written a couple months ago, in a session with LOSTBOY, who did “Gloves Up”, and Lauren Aquilina, who is so amazing. It was kind of a therapy songwriting session, “Cut You Off”, actually.

Leigh-Anne:

Studio is therapy in general, isn’t it?

Perrie:

It really is. You let it all out, it’s a safe space.

Jade:

I love “Cut You Off” ‘cause I think it’s just a really good, solid, manic pop song.

What was the inspiration for the song?

Basically, me and the girls decided to have therapy together. Having a therapist with us was just, really healthy, I think. And she basically taught us that the negative people in our lives…you have to imagine the negative people, and then you imagine a rope tied to them, and you’re connected to them in this weird way, and this mentality that we have. And, you have to cut them off, and you have to imagine just, these big ass scissors, cut them off, and that’s it; try and distance yourself from negative, horrible people. And, Jade went to the studio, and she was like, “Guys, that seemed like such a sick concept to me, so I’ve wrote a song about it”.
