According to NME through the words of Venom 2’s director Andy Serkis, Tom Hardy made the decision to contact Simz for the remix. Serkis added:
[Simz] actually had made a song, unbeknowst to her, called ‘Venom’ that connected very much with the first movie. And so Tom got in touch with her and that song became sort of the focus [of the scene].
