“Special” is the title track of Lizzo’s fourth studio album. She performed the track live for the first time on April 16th on SNL, along “About Damn Time.”
It was teased for the first time by Lizzo on January 26, 2022, on a TikTok she posted on her account. The next day, the song was used for Logitech’s new campaign, where Lizzo appears as a guest.
I’ve always wanted to make my momma proud. Today was her first time hearing my new music. She told me she has ALWAYS been proud of me. (Even in my crazy rock star sleeping in my car days). She always made me feel special. In case nobody told you yet… you’re special. Keep going. I’m proud of you.

After “Rumors”, I received a lot of backlash. I think it was because people hadn’t heard from me since Cuz I Love You and this was their opportunity to attack me because I was visible, you know?
