Good and bad and right and wrong
Are stories made up when we're young to scare us
Love and hate are in-between
Depends on your reality to see them
[Pre-Chorus]
I just wanna stay in the moment the rest of my life
[Chorus]
So, one more night
I'm gonna choose
I don't wanna face the music, but I still wanna dance with you
Let's buy some time
For what we shouldn't do
I don't wanna face the music, but I still wanna dance with you
I still wanna dance with—
[Verse 2]
Close your eyes and count to ten
If you're standin' on the edge of fallin'
Open up and looking down
Everything that matters is forgotten
[Pre-Chorus]
I just wanna stay in the moment the rest of my life
So, one more night
I'm gonna choose
I don't wanna face the music, but I still wanna dance with you
Let's buy some time
For what we shouldn't do
I don't wanna face the music, but I still wanna dance with you
I still wanna dance with—
[Post-Chorus]
(Oh)
(Oh)
(Oh)
[Chorus]
So, one more night
I'm gonna choose
I don't wanna face the music, but I still wanna dance with you
Let's buy some time
For what we shouldn't do
I don't wanna face the music, but I still wanna dance with you
I still wanna dance with—
About
On “Face the Music” Louis Tomlinson speaks of a couple who know they are bad for each other, or at least know that there would be consequences to them being together; but ultimately not caring about it, and submitting to their love for one another.
FTM is told through by a first-person narrator, presumably Louis, and his inner monologue and subsequent debate of right and wrong; where wanting this person puts him in the world, and wether or not it all is so bad in the end.
On this track, the narrator wants the best of both worlds, seemingly unable to choose between this person, and the consequences being with them would bring. But ultimately submitting to this person at the end of the song; stating that, for just one night, he won’t have this debate with himself, forget about the worries and wrong this relationship will bring him, and just go with it.
Face the music is the fifth track on Louis Tomlinson second album, Faith in the Future.
