regret me Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Burning
All our bridges because you didn't care enough
You say you do, but I never know what's true when it comes to you
The butterflies, they came and died
A sour note
To end it all

[Verse 2]
Where do we stand?
Untraveled land
I'm frozen in the moment where
You messed it up
You messed us up

[Chorus]
So I'll let you go for the summer
If that's what you want from me
I won't tell anyone if you wanna
I've already made that mistake
And I hate to say this
But you're a bitch when you're mean
I won't let you ruin me
I'll erase your face, forget your taste
Never look in your eyes again
Am I that easy to forget, to regret
Oh God, it's sinking in
Forget me, regret me, don't let me in
[Bridge 1]
I want you to forget me, regret me
Like I do, like I do
Like I do, like I do, like I do
Like I do, like I do, like I do

[Bridge 2]
Forget me, regret me
I want you to
Forget me, regret me
Like I do, like I do
I can't wait for you, I can't wait for you
Please don't ask me to, I can't wait for you
You can't change me, I'm not your maybe
Forget me, regret me
Yeah
You messed it up
You messed us up
You ruined it all
It's ruined
I don't wanna dig my grave anymore
Broken down, I'm working it out
The butterflies, they came and died

[Outro]
I can't wait for you, I won't wait for you
I can't change for you, I won't change for you
I can't wait for you
Anymore
Forget me, regret me
Forget me, regret me
Forget me, regret me

About

Genius Annotation

“regret me” is a song about regretting getting into a situation with someone because it didn’t end up well. I wrote the song when I was angry and hurt which is evident throughout the lyrics. I really wanted to tie in some of my other work so there are lyrical and structural/instrumental references to some of my other songs. The title is a nod to the song “Regret Me” by Daisy Jones & The Six which helped inspire this track, and it is the second single from my EP, fallacy.
