Sanity (demo) Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Sanity, why must you make a fool of me?
You've been a friend to me, now I think that we're enemies
Eh, eh

[Pre-Chorus]
If I fall on my knees, I hear you laughing
If I call out your name, you don't come

[Chorus]
No one home, but the void is loud (This must be the void)
Echoes around my empty house (This must be the void)
Synapses are slowing down
This must be the void they always talk about
This must be the void

[Verse 2]
Levity, fill me up, let me flow
I'll let you take care of me, you can help me let go

[Pre-Chorus]
If I fall on my knees, I hеar you laughing
If I call out your name, you don't come

[Chorus]
No one homе, but the void is loud (This must be the void)
Echoes around my empty house (This must be the void)
Synapses are slowing down
This must be the void they always talk about
No one home, but the void is loud (This must be the void)
Echoes around my empty house (This must be the void)
Synapses are slowing down
This must be the void they always talk about
(This must be the void)
[Bridge]
Finally, I have arrived
Finally, I have arrived (And there is nothing to see)
Finally, I have arrived (And there is nothing to breathe)
Finally, I have arrived, arrived, arrived, arrived

[Chorus]
No one home, but the void is loud (This must be the void)
Echoes around my empty house (This must be the void)
Synapses are slowing down
This must be the void they always talk about
(This must be the void)
No one home, but the void is loud (This must be the void)
Echoes around my empty house (This must be the void)
Synapses are slowing down
This must be the void they always talk about
(This must be the void)

Genius Annotation

“Sanity” dates back to the writing sessions from Paramore’s fifth album After Laughter. It was first mentioned by Hayley Williams in a 2018 op-ed for Paper magazine.

She shared that it had been written at a time when she first realized her mental health was in a bad place.

Paramore decided to include as bonus track in their remix album Re: This Is Why, the accompanying album to This Is Why. It was the last of the 12 audio files teased by the band through their Discord.

Genius Answer

We’ve been putting this project for almost a year now. We just wanted to round up any friends who wanted or could be a part of this album. What came out of it is so incredible. There’s an unreleased song which didn’t make it on this album or After Laughter either. It’s been hanging around for a long time and we wanted to finally give it a home.

– Hayley in an interview for Smallzy’s Surgery
