Spirits In A Material World Lyrics

There is no political solution
To our troubled evolution
Have no faith in constitution
Just check this reggae revolution
We are spirits in a material world
Are spirits in a material world
Our so called leaders speak
With words they try to jail you
They subjugate the meek
But it's the rhetoric of failure
Spiritual material yes we are spiritual
Ina this material world
Run come come, run come come
Every pose run come come
Run come listen to the words of Mr. P. A. T. O. Banton
I'm a spiritual man pon this material land
Spreading peace and love to each and everyone
So play this one on the radio station
And rock the air-ways with positive vibrations
The youth need spiritual education
That's the only way they'll ever know their destination
Where does the answer lie
Living from day to day
Well if it's something we can't buy
There must be another way

Originally written by Sting for his band The Police in 1981, “Spirits In The Material World” was covered by Banton as “Spirits in A Material World” for his 1990 album Wize Up! (No Compromize) and released as a single the same year.

In 1995, Banton teamed up with Sting to re-record the track under its original name for inclusion on the Ace Ventura 2 movie soundtrack.
