Junk Lyrics
[Verse 1]
Motorcars, handlebars, bicycles for two
Broken-hearted jubilee
Parachutes, army boots, sleeping bags for two
Sentimental jamboree
[Chorus]
"Buy! Buy!" says the sign in the shop window
"Why? Why?" says the junk in the yard
[Verse 2]
Da-da-ya-da-da-da-da-da-ya, da-da-ya, da-da
Da-da-da-da-da, da-da
Candlesticks, building bricks, something old and new
Memories for you and me
[Chorus]
"Buy! Buy!" says the sign in the shop window
"Why? Why?" says the junk in the yard
Motorcars, handlebars, bicycles for two
Broken-hearted jubilee
Parachutes, army boots, sleeping bags for two
Sentimental jamboree
[Chorus]
"Buy! Buy!" says the sign in the shop window
"Why? Why?" says the junk in the yard
[Verse 2]
Da-da-ya-da-da-da-da-da-ya, da-da-ya, da-da
Da-da-da-da-da, da-da
Candlesticks, building bricks, something old and new
Memories for you and me
[Chorus]
"Buy! Buy!" says the sign in the shop window
"Why? Why?" says the junk in the yard
About
Genius Annotation
“Junk” is a song written and recorded by Paul McCartney for his debut solo album released in 1970. In the song, McCartney reflects upon the objects (and memories) a person collects in their life which are gradually abandoned and forgotten.
McCartney began writing ‘Junk’ in 1968 during the Beatles' retreat to India for transcendental meditation. While unfinished, the song would be considered for the band’s eponymous self-titled album released later that year, with the band even recording the song during demo sessions at George Harrison’s house, but the song remained unfinished until the recording of the McCartney album in 1969.
