Let You Down Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Baby, don't overestimate me
You've seen the best of me, babe
But you don't know it
Baby, you'll think the less of me, yeah
Well, you see the rest of me now
You just don't know it

[Pre-Chorus]
While we're at home getting high in bed
You should be doing some good instead
And I cannot feel responsible for you as well as me

[Chorus]
So don't love me
Run away
I only fuck this up
And let you down
So leave now
Oh, don't you follow me
It's too late
I only chew you up and spit you out
So leave now, so leave now
I let you down

[Post-Chorus]
I let you down
I let you down
[Verse 2]
Maybe, I underestimated
How far that we could take this
It just kept going

[Pre-Chorus]
While we're at home getting high in bed
You should be doing some good instead
And I cannot feel responsible for you as well as me

[Chorus]
So don't love me
Run away
I only fuck this up
And let you down
So leave now
Oh, don't you follow me
It's too late
I only chew you up and spit you out
So leave now, so leave now
I let you down

[Post-Chorus]
I let you down
I let you down
I let you down
I let you down
[Chorus]
So don't love me
Run away
I only fuck this up
And let you down
So leave now
Oh, don't you follow me
It's too late
I only chew you up and spit you out
So leave now, so leave now
I let you down

Genius Annotation

Let You Down is Australian dance music duo, Peking Duk’s second hit single of 2017, following the release of Fake Magic earlier in the year.

While it is referring to a heartbreak, Let You Down features a catchy melody and energetic, uplifting and harmonic vocals by Icona Pop and Adam Hyde, one of the members of Peking Duk.

Hyde’s vocal part in the song makes Let You Down the first song by Peking Duk in which a member of the duo has sung. Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles have described the song as a “modern heartbreak melody.”

Hyde and Styles discussed the story behind the song, saying:

It is loosely based off the story in the movie “Candy” from Heath Ledger’s perspective. We honestly just felt like the happy melodies would be far more interesting with a sad story through the lyrics. Weirdly, the story in Candy is far more relatable than it seems on first glance. Many people are actually in scenarios or relationships where they know they are bringing the other person down. This is the hard part; trying to tell them to leave so you don’t let them down.
