The Prayer Lyrics

[Intro: All]
La da da la da da (La da da)
La la la da da (la la)
Ooh

[Verse 1: Mitch]
I pray you'll be our eyes
And watch us where we go
And help us to be wise
In times when we don't know
Let this be our prayer
When we lose our way
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe

[Verse 2: Scott, Mitch, Scott & Mitch (Matt & Kirstin)]
La luce che tu dai
I pray we'll find your light
Nel cuore resterà
And hold it in our hearts
A ricordarci che
When stars go out each night
L'eterna stella sei
Ooh oh
Nella mia preghiera
Let this be our prayer
Quanta fede c'è
When shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe (Safe)
[Bridge: All]
A world where pain and sorrow will be ended (Will be ended)
And every heart that's broken will be mended
And we'll remember we're all God's children
Reaching out to touch Him, reaching to the sky (Sky)

[Verse 3: Mitch & Kirstin]
We ask that life be kind
We ask that life be kind
And watch us from above
And watch us from above
We hope each soul will find
We hope each soul will find
Another soul to love
Another soul to love

[Outro: Scott, Mitch, Scott & Mitch (Matt & Kirstin), All]
Let this be our prayer
Let this be our prayer
Just like every child
Just like every child
Needs to find a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe
Needs to find a place
Guide us with your grace

Give us faith so we'll be safe

About

Genius Annotation

In “The Prayer”, Pentatonix mash up two different versions of the song: the first two verses correspond to the original duet of Andrea Bocelli and Céline Dion, whose lyrics are sung by Scott and Mitch respectively. Starting from the bridge, however, the reference version becomes the one by Donnie McClurkin & Yolanda Adams, leading to a more explicitly Christian interpretation of the prayer (“And we’ll remember we’re all God’s children reaching out to touch Him, reaching to the sky”), in line with the Christmas concept of the album.
