“MIDDLE CHILD” is a melodic collaboration between PnB Rock and deceased Florida rapper XXXTENTACION, detailing both artists' childhoods and their come-up.
The song released on PnB’s TrapStar Turnt PopStar on May 3 2019, 6 months after being initially teased in one of PnB’s Instagram Live sessions.
PnB and X previously worked together on other songs such as “changes” and “SMASH!” from X’s sophomore studio album ?, as well as the unreleased track “BAD.”
The official music video, that feature a young PnB Rock and a Young XXXTENTACION, was released on August 8, 2019.

Yes! PnB Rock grew up as the third child out of five boys overall with a single mother, just as described in the song. In a Genius Interview, he said:
My mom, she a single parent. She had five boys, no girls. So my moms was struggling. She did a lot for us, really was out there trying to get to a dollar to feed her kids.
Presumably, it was very good. When X’s Skins was released, PnB posted about how he had previously questioned X as to why some of those tracks were not on his album when X previewed the tracks for him.
