Genius Annotation

Taken from her career highlight 2009 record Far, “Blue Lips” is an example of the way Spektor could entrance an audience at her peak. A piano riff that almost feels like rain falling expands into an incredible piece of song writing, as she applies a jazz-honed ear for melody to her cute but not-too-cute vocals.

The track seems to allude to a religious experience for the main character. He discovers faith, but is unimpressed by the execution of it.
