“Thinking Bout You” was first performed on May 13th, 2022 in Orlando Florida. Rei responded to a fan on an Instagram story asking for the song to be released which Rei responded with “Very very sooon”

The song features long time friend Joji and marks the third official collaboration between the two artist with the previous collaboration being “Normal People” off Joji’s sophomore album Nectar released in 2020

On May 20th, 2022 music critic and friend of Joji Anthony Fantano tweeted a link to a pre-save of the song which revealed the songs official title, cover art, and a release date of May 27th, 2022

Three hours later Rei would post a 30 second snippet of the song to his instagram saying

i miss u

The track would release on May 27th, 2022 and alongside its release Rei announced the album it would be featured on titled, Xeno and is expected to release on July 8th, 2022
