Coping Lyrics

[Verse 1]
I'm not used to being with somebody with their shit together
Saying sorry actually makes it better
I did things to you I said I'd never
I miss waiting for you in the lobby of your old apartment
Drawing shapes with you into the carpet
Back before the end had even started

[Pre-Chorus]
Now that you're gone
It's my fault
I'm so lost
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry

[Chorus]
Smoking cheap pre-rolls and listening to LANY
Hoping you don't hate me
I know it's lame, but this is how I'm coping without
Inside jokes and places that you'd take me
Bet you probably blame me
I know it's lame, but this is how I'm coping without you

[Verse 2]
I'm the best at getting disappointed by my expectations
Try to read my mind, it's always racing
Damn, I really love to test your patience
[Pre-Chorus]
Now that you're gone
It's my fault
I'm so lost
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry

[Chorus]
Smoking cheap pre-rolls and listening to LANY
Hoping you don't hate me
I know it's lame, but this is how I'm coping without
Inside jokes and places that you'd take me
Bet you probably blame me
I know it's lame, but this is how I'm coping without you
Without you
Without you
Without you (Without you)

[Bridge]
I'm the best at getting disappointed by my expectations
Try to read my mind, it's always racing
Damn, I really love to test your patience

[Chorus]
Smoking cheap pre-rolls and listening to LANY
Hoping you don't hate me
I know it's lame, but this is how I'm coping without
Inside jokes and places that you'd take me
Bet you probably blame me
I know it's lame, but this is how I'm coping without you
Without you
Without you

Genius Annotation

Intense emotional growth is often the best fuel for a musician’s creative fire, and Rosie has certainly turned pain into beauty on her debut single “Coping.” “Coping,” is a fitting introduction to the emotional and sonic range that Rosie Darling is capable of hitting. A piano-based ballad, it’s a slow and steady burn that eventually builds into a more percussive and dramatic chorus. But it never loses the intimacy it started with. What it begins to display is the lyrical dexterity that Rosie possesses. To fully visualize a story, no space is wasted and it’s a compelling way to pull the listener in. As Rosie notes, “If I’m not inclined to think about what the visuals are or just the colors, then it’s probably not that good of a song.” To paint those visuals, Rosie uses, as she says, “scene-setting lyrics to bring the listener into a space where they can relate and process whichever familiar feeling that specific song evokes.” For example, on “Coping,” the verse lyric is “I miss waiting for you in the lobby of your old apartment, drawing shapes into the carpet.” That kind of specificity is the bridge that authentically links the artist and audience, and it’s a strength that Rosie displays throughout the upcoming EP.

“Coping” is finally out and is the first song of this new chapter. It is extremely special to me because it’s one of the first songs where I left the session and was just like… YUP, that feels like me. Break ups teach you a lot about yourself and this song was inspired by the feeling when you know it’s over but you don’t want to end it. You play out the moments and imagine coping without this person. I hope this resonates with you and you find your own story within it. I think we can all agree on one thing: Break ups suck!!!!! P.S — shoutout to LANY for getting me through every breakup ever. </3
