High Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Pull you underneath the slumber
Into the light before the thunder
Tell me, is there any wonder about where we stand?
Little honey, in the summer
Fell in love with Hunter

Oh, I can't have this

[Chorus]
I'm gonna get you so high
It's gonna send you reelin
'
Baby, gonna feel it
Baby, gonna feel it
I'm gonna go down all night
It's gonna get you kneelin'
Baby, can you feel this?
I'm gonna make you feel this
I'm gonna get you so high

[Post-Chorus]
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh-ooh

[Verse 2]
I couldn't let go of the sonnet
Look how out of hand it's gotten
Is it wrong for me to want this?
Oh, baby, all I do is want it
And, if I knew that I could have you
Don't you know that I'd be glad to show it?
[Chorus]
I'm gonna get you so high
It's gonna send you reelin'
Baby, gonna feel it
Baby, gonna feel it
I'm gonna go down all night
It's gonna get you kneelin'
Baby, can you feel this?
I'm gonna make you feel this
I'm gonna gеt you so high

[Instrumental Break: Electric Guitar Solo & Drums]
Ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh

[Chorus]
I'm gonna get you so high
It's gonna send you reelin'
Baby, gonna feel it
Baby, gonna feel it
I'm gonna go down all night
It's gonna get you kneelin'
Baby, can you feel it?
I'm gonna gеt you so high

Genius Annotation

“High” plays a part in Angel Face’s larger love story arc, about The Troubadour Sanchez, Evangeline, and Hunter in 1964.

This song is about a continued discussion between The Troubadour Sanchez and Evangeline. In the verses, Evangeline is conflicted about her feelings for Hunter, as she has a love affair with him over the summer of 1964. Whilst in the choruses, The Troubadour Sanchez wants to save her from Hunter and make her feel good for the rest of her life with him.

The song is sang from both the perspective of The Troubadour Sanchez and Evangeline. It is one of only two Angel Face songs from her point of view, alongside “Howling At Wolves”.
