Tonight Lyrics

[Verse 1]
When they try to pull you under
And they’re out to steal your thunder
Gotta make ‘em recognize
You’re a phoenix and it’s time to rise

[Chorus]
Tonight, dancing at the edge of the fire
Tonight, livin' like a bird on a wire
Oh, tonight, taking a chance and you’re giving it all that you got
Tonight, you’ll make it ‘cause I know you’re a fighter

[Verse 2]
Don’t give up and don’t surrender
You’re the ultimate contender
Now you fight to stay alive
And you’ll kick it into overdrive

[Chorus]
Tonight, dancing at the edge of the fire
Tonight, livin' like a bird on a wire
Oh, tonight, taking a chance and you’re giving it all that you got
Tonight, you’ll make it ‘cause I know you’re a fighter

[Chorus]
Tonight, dancing at the edge of the fire
Tonight, livin' like a bird on a wire
Oh, tonight, taking a chance and you’re giving it all that you got
Tonight, you’ll make it ‘cause I know you’re a fighter
[Outro]
Tonight!

About

Genius Annotation

“Tonight” is Sunset Neon’s Starlight lead single and result of major inspiration coming from legendary 80s action movies like “Top Gun” or “Rocky III” and the songs they made famous (Kenny Loggins' “Danger Zone” and Survivor’s “Eye of the tiger,” respectively) — it has a tension reminiscent of training montages of future fighters.
Sunset Neon achieves this with an amount of rhythm guitar unusual for the project as of yet, paired with a rhythm synth and a lead guitar mirroring the vocal lines of the chorus. The simple and powerful vocals and lyrics could directly be taken from motivational media. They describe a struggle the addressee got into by unknown events and that he has to fight his way out of it right now — hence “Tonight.”

The song was premiered a day before streaming release through an exclusive article by the Huffington Post and accompanied by a lyric video on YouTube. This is the 5th single from Sunset Neon’s debut album Starlight, released December 2017.
